Why do love haiku or photo haiku so much?

I just recently discovered my love for poetry and my gift for this form of expression. I have been an artist for a while, dabbling in photography, digital art, painting and sketching. I fell in love with the concept and simplicity of haiku due to its ‘to the point’ characteristics. Upon my studies in mediation and martial arts, I have written various haiku about my spiritual experiences and the haiku form was the best way I could explain what I was feeling. I also resonate with the history of haiku. Photo haiku is the concept of adding an image to the poem to give the reader a deeper meaning and further convey what you want. My images and art work are meant to complement my haiku and serve as a double form of expression for me. I love art in all forms.

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

My haiku and content for my collections come from everything. Anything can be written into a poetic verse and making a haiku is a Zen way to get my point across in beautiful simplicity. I usually get inspiration from my surroundings, feelings, experiences, and the people around me. My main topic that I am conveying in my most recent collection, ‘Love Haiku’, centers around poems and images to convey feelings of love and gratitude. I hope to make many more themed collections with all my haiku I have compiled over the years.

Do you view writing as a kind of spiritual practice?

Yes, of course. Any form of expression that opens the heart is a spiritual practice. I do take a spiritual theme in most of my work because I am very inspired by various spiritual figures and ideas. I do not go towards one religion however. I take concepts from all modalities that stand out and speak to me. I want to incorporate anything that shows me light and inspiration because I know it will resonate with at least one person in this world: the person who is meant to read it.

What are you trying to achieve with your book?

With my first collection of haiku, ‘Love Haiku’, my goal is to open the hearts of those individuals that are ready to be awakened. No matter who you or what you have been through in life, this book will work in a way that will have you experience the love I feel every day. I am here to reveal the truth inside my heart, so you can experience the truth inside your heart. I want everyone who reads this collection of my expression help them find their own heart’s expression.

Who this book for?

This book is all about love: love of self, love of life, love of relationships ect. This book is meant for everyone but will especially help those healing from past traumatic relationships, trying to mend current relationships, suffering from depression, or even those having self-love dilemmas. True love starts with loving yourself and the best gift you can give to someone is the gift of self-love. This book reflects the love everyone has inside their own hearts, so they can experience it every time they look at the images and read the poems.

Do you have any goals for this collection when you wrote it?

When I first wrote haiku, it was to heal my own heart and calm my mind enough to figure out the correct action to take. I have struggled with loving myself in the past and I wanted this book to be something I could always refer back to in times of uncertainty. There will always be uncertainty and unknown in life, but the main thing is to know there is always love inside your heart. Everyone has it and my main goal for this book is to remind (or educate) all that read and look at the images that they are the Source of their true love. There is no need to look externally for love when you have an endless fountain of youth with you all the time.

Do you write every single day?

Yes, I do. Things inspire me all the time no matter where I am at. I always keep some sort of notepad and marker with me. I write haiku every day, but I also do a lot of other writing styles. I write articles, journal entries, and poems; but most importantly, I create art every day. Art is my go to and I love to paint and create digital media. The beauty of creating something every day is a great tool to use when trying to figure out your gifts and abilities. It doesn’t matter what you create because any form of expression and creation will lead you closer to freedom and finding your true form of expression that you love and can do over and over again.

Do you want to expand on other forms of writing?

I see that in my future. When I was younger, I wrote fiction every night in my journals that I would flip through it and enjoy reading. It has been a longtime since I have written any stories but I think I would like to get into short fiction books with mythical characters and settings. I also would love to write children’s book and populate them with my own art. Poetry is a great starting point with endless opportunity. I am excited!

What do you do to pass the time or for fun?

I write haiku for fun but I also really like to paint. I paint on canvases, plates, walls, use spray paint, and paint sculptures. I have a kitten named Lion and I play with him for fun. I also love to watch cartoons. Not only do they give me great animating ideas but I love the quirky adventures. My favorite cartoons to watch right now are Rick and Morty and Star vs The Forces of Evil. I also am a big fan of Adventure Time and Family Guy.

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?

I have no idea what I wanted to when I was growing up. This question always made me nervous as a kid because I never had an answer. I had no idea I was going to be a writer or web designer. I know I wanted to do something I enjoyed so it didn’t feel like a job. I wanted to have fun and have the freedom to live my life the way I wanted, even though I had no idea what life I wanted to live. I have a good picture of how I want my life to be like now and its coming true every day. Because I am true to myself and accountable for my own being and happiness, I have found out that I want to do everything and experience everything this life has to offer me. Being an author is a great way for me to get my messages of unity and love to all.

What is the hardest thing about writing?

To me, the hardest thing about writing is stopping. Once I get an idea and get on a roll, I want to keep going to get my ideas out of my head. My ideas tend to piggyback on each other so it’s hard for me to find a stopping point. I must force myself to step away from my computer or journal and take a break. I am getting better at pacing myself, but I often just keep going until another thought comes to do something else. I did this with video games when I was a kid also. I would play Pokemon on my Gameboy all night and then be so tired in the morning. The most important things to remember is to save my progress, whether playing a game or working on a masterpiece.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I would tell my younger self to never stop smiling and laughing. No matter how hard life seems and how unbearable the people around you can be, always know that you are in control of your own happiness and emotions. I would also tell my kid self that everything is happening the way it’s supposed to be happening to prepare you for a beautiful future, and a beautiful future it has been!

What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

Never stop if you have a passion. If you have the gift of writing, then your words are meant to touch the heart of at least one person. If you impact that one person in the best way possible, then you have accomplished a great feat. Others will recognize your passion in your work and when you feel your own love for your creation, there is no need to look any further. Love what you do, love what you create, and love who you are and nothing can stop you. Period.

How can readers discover more about you and you work?

I have my website where I post my creative work every day. I have information about myself, my artwork, and my photo haiku creations. I update it all the time with new content depending on where my ideas are at. You can also purchase my collection on I use their self-publishing service to create my collections.

Any last thoughts for our readers?

To anyone reading this or anyone who has bought ‘Love Haiku’, I just want to finish by saying there is no need to search anymore. If you are looking for love and acceptance in this world and from other people, stop looking. Once you learn to open your heart, love yourself, and accept yourself, your world changes forever. You begin to see things in a different perspective and opportunities present themselves in your life in ways that seem impossible. Everyone wants to feel love and accepted but you have that inside you all the time. I hope my words here and in this book impact your life and if it does speak to you, I would love to hear about your experience. Shoot me an email at
